The Charles Correa Foundation (CCF) announces a vacancy for a Convener at the studio based in Fontainhas, Panaji. Applicants who are prepared to start work in Goa by mid-June will be preferred. Submit your applications before 15 June 2022.

Requirements:

  • Professional degree in architecture, at least three years work experience.
  • Demonstrate leadership in team-building.
  • Management skills, familiarity with budgeting and accounts.
  • Proficiency in the following software: Autocad, Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Portfolio of architectural and design work.
  • Essay – 500 words (max). Prompt: Of all the ideas that Correa wrote about, which one do you think CCF is best positioned to address today? Why?
  • Writing sample – from an earlier academic paper.

Job Description

Primary responsibility is to assist the Director and Managing Trustee in order to ensure the smooth execution of CCF activities.

  • Guide and support the Research Fellows in incubating research or projects around the improvement of our natural and built habitat.
  • Represent the organisation to the outside world.
  • Present Charles Correa’s archives, his philosophy, and work, to student groups, and professionals visiting the Foundation.
  • Write grant proposals for projects and activities in consultation with the Director.
  • Lead the documentation of drawings and photographs of Charles Correa’s built and unbuilt projects, sketches and essays.
  • Co-ordinate with relevant partners to publish on Charles Correa’s philosophy and work, as well as Foundation projects and research
  • Organise national and international events, exhibitions, lectures, workshops and conferences which discuss the Charles Correa archives and ideas for improving the urban realm.
  • Write about concerns and issues related to architecture and urbanism, represent them through the CCF blog, newsletter, etc.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the Foundation studio alongside the administrator, including keeping an account of costs incurred and basic accounting of the Trust.

2022 Fellowship

The Charles Correa Foundation (CCF) announces the 2022 cycle of the Research Fellowship, a residency program based in Fontainhas, Panaji, Goa.

Apply by May 31, 2022 for a year-long position opening June 2022 with the following qualifications:

☐ Professional degree in Architecture.
☐ Proficiency in using the following software – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, AutoCad + SketchUp.
☐ Academic Architectural Portfolio.
☐ Essay – 500 words (max). Prompt: Write about an architect practicing today, who you think embodies the phrase ‘Form Follows Climate’.
☐ Writing sample – from an earlier academic paper.

During the Fellowship, you will be required to:
☐ Assist in preparation of project proposals, surveys and documentation, mapping and analysis, graphics, essays and presentations related to the research project, including coordination with agencies (government or private) for permissions, status, fees, etc.
☐ Assist in work related to acquiring funding for projects or events related to the activities of the Foundation such as preparation of dockets, posters, invitations, etc.
☐ Work on the documentation of drawings and photographs of Charles Correa’s built and unbuilt projects, sketches and essays.
☐ Organise and work on outreach programs of the Foundation through publications, conferences, exhibitions and workshops.
☐ Work on writing up about concerns and issues related to architecture and urbanism, and represent them through essays, blogs, etc.
☐ Assist in creatively designing and scheduling of the events related to the activities of the Foundation.
☐ Make presentations on the Charles Correa Archives, on his philosophy and works, to keen visitors coming to the Foundation, ranging from travellers, student groups and professionals.

Fellows will recieve a monthly stipend of ₹ 20,000/- as well as rent-free accomodation in an apartment leased by the Foundation.

2022 Research Coordinator

Apply by 28 February 2022 for a permanent position starting in March 2022 with the following qualifications and skills:

☐ Professional degree in Architecture or Planning, minimum 3 years work experience.
☐ Proficiency in using the following software – InDesign, Illustrator, AutoCAD + SketchUp.
☐ Familiarity with accounting and estimates, understanding of WordPress and social media platforms.
☐ Ability to delegate work and manage the day to day activities of the Foundation.
☐ Portfolio of work (include academic and professional work) maximum 10 pages.
☐ Writing sample, from an earlier academic paper / journal publication.
☐ Essay – 1000 words (maximum) Prompt is as follows,
Research, analyse and draw parallels between the three built projects by Charles Correa, namely,
a. Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad (1959-66)
b. Kanchanjunga Apartments, Mumbai (1970-83)
c. Visvesvaraya Centre, Bangalore (1974-80)

As a Research Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to:

Looking for a young architect / architecture student for a 6 month long position from July 2022 in Fontainhas, Panaji, Goa.

☐ With/pursuing a degree in architecture.

☐ If the applicant is a student. Submit a letter from the institution, acknowledging that, given the nature of work at CCF, the student may not be guaranteed on-site construction exposure & experience.
