Description

This thesis argues that heritage conservation must extend beyond the preservation of monuments to the restoration of equitable access to cultural landscapes. By reviving Sabli’s forgotten pilgrimage network, the project reconnects fragmented relationships between people, place, ritual, ecology, and livelihood. The design transforms an abandoned sacred landscape into an inclusive public common where pilgrims, villagers, artisans, and visitors share space without compromising cultural identity. Through architecture, movement, and landscape, the proposal demonstrates how design can become an instrument of social, cultural, economic, and environmental equity—positioning architecture as an active agent of change rather than a passive act of preservation. The project is rooted in the revival of a once-existing but now invisible path, an experiential spine that reconnects past memory with present movement.
