Status: Masterplan Proposal Report
Year of Completion: 2015
A presentation on the Master Plan for Goa University was made by Charles Correa to the Vice-Chancellor in May 2015. Correa envisioned a Campus of world-class facilities, comparable to the likes of the great centres of learning; the Madrasas of Iraq and Syria, and Universities of Cambridge, Oxford, MIT, and Harvard, despite the harsh climatic conditions.
The presentation highlighted the design and planning issues of the current campus and illustrated how densification, well-shaded spaces, pedestrian-friendly circulation, realignment of existing roads for easy access, segregation of pedestrian and vehicular movement, reuse of existing buildings and finally a proposal for a new building block, can improve the design and functioning of Goa University.
