Charles Correa is a major figure in contemporary architecture around the world. His work – which includes the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Museum in Ahmedabad, the Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur, the Kanchanjunga apartments in Mumbai, the Brain Research Center at MIT in Boston, and most recently, the elegant Champalimaud centre in Lisbon- always places a special emphasis on the climate, culture and aspirations of that particular place. Correa has received the highest honours of his profession, including the gold medal of the RIBA, the Gold Medal of the UIA (International Union of Architects) and The Praemium Imperiale of Japan.
