Ruturaj Parikh Looking up in NYC

Date: March 16th, 2018
Time: 5.30 PM
Venue: Charles Correa Foundation

The greatest city in the world dwarfs the human. It is but the humans who built it. One does not see much sky in New York but when one sees it, it dazzles with the contrast. It is inevitable that one keeps looking up in NYC. The building silhouettes beautifully frame the sky in many forms. Structural frames, glass facades, and antennas pose against the bright blue sky. At night, the figure becomes the ground and the iconic structures filter light out. The perception is reversed and shards of light dot the sky.
