Traffic planning and parking management at the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital campus became a necessity when the haphazard parking and traffic began to delay the movement of emergency vehicles. A detailed study was conducted and simple strategies with no major infrastructural or operational changes were proposed aiming at:
- Segregation of internal vehicular movement into three main zones – Emergency and Consultation Zone, Ward and Resident Zone and Academic Zone
- Marking out Garden areas and Pedestrian Zones for patients and visitors
The proposed suggestions were further implemented and have made a positive impact on the traffic movement, parking situation and the general environment of the campus.
