Divar, a beautiful and unspoilt island in the Mandovi River, had no proper system in place for collection, segregation and disposal of waste. In 2011, the Foundation initiated a survey to gauge the waste that was being generated by the different village wards in the Divar Island. Based on the data gathered and processed, a simple Waste Management Shelter was designed for Divar and detailed to enable easy segregation of waste into biodegradable wet waste and non-biodegradable dry waste and further dispose all waste responsibly.
